A VERY IMPORTANT PUBIC MEETING will be held next Tuesday, October 13th concerning the Mayor’s plan to rezone the City in order to provide “affordable and quality” housing. In so doing, the Mayor’s goal is create economically diverse neighborhoods.
THIS MEETING WILL BE YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR THE PROPOSAL PRESENTED BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION TO CREATE NEW ZONING IN OUR CITY FOR AFFORDABILITY AND QUALITY HOUSING…IT IS AN AMENDMENT TO THE CURRENT ZONING LAWS OF THE CITY.
Literature given out at a recent meeting states that “Affordable housing would be mandatory, not voluntary” and it would be permanent. It could be accomplished as a result of a City neighborhood rezoning plan or a private rezoning application. (This has not been spelled out, yet.)
The Plan is controversial with communities all over the City weighing in on whether it should be passed. This is your chance to listen and to question the wisdom of this plan.
IF YOU CARE ABOUT MANHATTAN BEACH AND/OR OUR SURROUNDING NEIGHBORS AND NEIGHBORHOODS AND WHAT THEY WILL LOOK LIKE AS THE YEARS GO BY, WE URGE YOU TO ATTEND THIS MEETING!!!
The City Planning Commission will present the Mayor’s plan on Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 PM at Community Board 15 –Kingsborough Community College in the Faculty Dining Room U 112.
