Early this afternoon a car speeding westbound away from Kingsborough College jumped the meridian near Hastings St. He crossed the Blvd. and struck the wrought iron fence inside the entrance to the beach. At least one person was hospitalized and a arrest will be made according to the Police.. The MBCG has been campaigning to stop speeding and move the concrete planters. This car could have hit a planter resulting in serious injuries to the driver and his passengers.The accident occurred around the corner from PS 195 and could have been a thousand times worse. It appears KCC students we’re involved. As information becomes available we will keep you posted.

Addendum: It appears several KCC students were waiting outside the gate for the owner of this car (BMW) while he was taking a final exam. Another person entered the car and decided to take it for a “test drive”. He was reported to have sped at a very high speed down Oriental Blvd. Skid marks are visible beginning at Irwin St. It is a miracle that no person or another vehicle were hit.

The Police stated they will be arresting the driver on several charges including leaving the scene of an accident.
