MBCG Meeting on Wednesday, September 16, 2015

IT HAS BEEN ALMOST THREE YEARS SINCE SUPERSTORM SANDY HIT OUR COMMUNITY!!!

THE MAYOR HAS A PLAN TO PROTECT LOWER MANHATTAN…BUT NO ONE IN THE FEDERAL/STATE OR CITY GOVERNMENT HAS PRODUCED A PLAN TO PROTECT MANHATTAN BEACH!!!

THIS IS HURRICANE SEASON…WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF ANOTHER “SANDY” IS PREDICTED?

IF YOU ARE MANDATED TO EVACUATE WHAT WOULD YOU DO?  WHERE WOULD YOU GO?  WHAT DO YOU NEED TO TAKE WITH YOU?  WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMEONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS TOO SICK OR FRAIL TO LEAVE?  WHAT IF YOU CANNOT COME BACK FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME–HOW WOULD YOU REFILL YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS?  HOW CAN YOU CARE FOR YOUR PETS?  WHO WILL WATCH OVER THE COMMUNITY—KEEP YOUR HOME SAFE?
AND….IF YOU STAY…WHO WILL HELP YOU?  HOW WILL YOU CHARGE YOUR TELEPHONE/YOUR COMPUTER?  WHO WILL BRING FOOD/WATER/BLANKETS? HOW WILL YOU HEAT YOUR HOME OR TAKE A SHOWER? WHO WILL EVEN KNOW YOU DIDN’T EVACUATE?

IT DOESN’T TAKE MUCH TO REMEMBER THE LAST TIME!!!

THE NYC OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WILL ADDRESS THESE TOPICS AT

OUR NEXT MEETING:  WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16,  7:30 P.M. AT P.S. 195

PLEASE NOTE:  TIME FOR MEETING:  7:30 PM!!!! (light refreshments)
