DOT CLOSES VOTING STREET

June 26th, 2012 · No Comments

The Department of Transportation decided to install a 4 inch high speed bump on Irwin Street today June 26th. The only problem is that DOT closed Irwin Street and today is the Democratic Congressional Primary Election.  Our polling place is PS 195 on Irwin Street.

What was a 2 hour job is no longer a 2 hour job because the truck delivering the asphalt got a flat tire.

The DOT Supervisor on site had no idea today was an election. DOT has no idea of much when it comes to the needs of this community. In what can be a very close election, imagine the results were influenced by DOT.

Only good news, sort of, is the speed bump is not being installed in front of 153 Irwin but at the beginning of the school nearest Oriental Blvd. That decision was made this morning. A lot of decisions without any input from the community. You never know what you’re going to get from the DOT…
