You never know what you are going to get from the Department of Transportation. It’s like opening a box of chocolates. You can ask for a stop sign and get a speed bump. You can ask to normalize a blinking yellow traffic light and get a 10 foot wide radar sign. You can ask and ask and wind up biting into a gooey dripping cherry filled piece of milk chocolate. Ouch.
Don’t be surprised the next time you drive up Irwin Street from Oriental Blvd and go over a speed bump. We were surprised when the marking was painted on the road and a 20 mph speed limit sign was installed. Deep throat styled investigations revealed the Principal of PS 195 requested it.
We are so dumb. All we have to do is get him to ask for stop signs, etc. for us. Who would have thought.
If you were leaving KCC from the Shore Blvd exit the last two weeks you probably noticed a 10 foot wide highway radar sign on the Bay side of the street. Good thinking DOT. Take a way a summer weekend parking spot and a weekday parking spot from KCC students. Also, jut out into the street a bit and cause some havoc. Not to say, the sign belongs on Oriental Blvd. on the Beach side where there is No Standing signs. But that would take common sense and be safer.
The sign was a BIG surprise to us also.
