Dilemma, What To Do?

May 25th, 2012 · No Comments

What to do? The past two monthly MBCG meetings, there has been no representation from Kingsborough Community College. They are always on our monthly agenda and they are always the first committee report to be given. At our last meeting, May 16, our President announced the next scheduled meeting will be June 20th, the third Wednesday of the month as has been our custom for the past 70 years.  The leadership and many members of MBCG were surprised when they received an invitation in the mail to the Kingsborough fundraiser dinner, “The Splash”. You guessed it, on June 20th.
Normally, in deference to Kingsborough we would automatically change the meeting date, probably to the following week June 27th which is one day after the Congressional Democratic Primary between Hakeem Jefferies and Charles Barron. If we schedule the meeting one week earlier on June 13th it conflicts with the Police Council Meeting and with a possible congressional debate for this primary that we are planning.
It has been the practice of the MBCG to invite men and women running for elected office to meet us and hopefully to debate their opponents. You know what they say, an educated voter is a good voter. The MBCG has been getting a lot of practice at hosting debates, town hall meetings with two, one or no candidates. (You had to be there to get this).
Please comment below and let us know your preference.
If interested, below is also a link we found to an article regarding the DC 37 endorsement of Charles Barron for your perusal.
Have a great holiday weekend. Drive safely.
