Important Community Meeting with Army Corps of Engineers

IF YOU HAVE NEVER GONE TO A COMMUNITY MEETING YOU MUST CONSIDER GOING TO THIS ONE!!!! TO DATE:  NO ACTIONS HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO PREVENT THE MANHATTAN BEACH COMMUNITY FROM ANOTHER “SANDY”!!!  YOUR ATTENDANCE IS NECESSARY IN ORDER FOR THE “POWERS THAT BE” TO HEAR YOUR CONCERNS, FOR YOU TO LEARN WHAT WILL BE DONE TO PROTECT US IN THE FUTURE AND TO MAKE SURE WE ARE PROTECTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!
BRING YOUR FRIENDS, RELATIVES—EVERYONE…THIS IS OUR FIRST CHANCE TO LISTEN AND TO SPEAK…IT MIGHT BE THE ONLY TIME!!!

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY MEETING!

As residents of a waterfront community, we have faced serious concerns about flooding and resiliency since the events of Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Working with Senator Schumer and other colleagues, we were successful in ensuring that Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach, and Manhattan Beach were included in the Army Corps’ resiliency study of the Northeast corridor.

Now I invite you to participate in a public information session with the Army Corps, so that you can understand the suggested plans, and share your comments with the Corps.

The Army Corps of Engineers will discuss preliminary flood control plans for our area at a public meeting at Kingsborough Community College on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 6 to 9pm. See attached flyer for more information.

This project will provide important protection for our area, using a variety of different structures as well as devices such as flood gates. I urge you to attend this meeting so that you can see what is planned and provide your input.
